- Oct 2001 My first try at writing a love-song, again for a class assignment - this time, an introductory night-course on Music

REF: Though my passion slept
deep
My trust warmed with years
Open seas and
free breezes
are my views
when I see inside your
crystal blue windows…
Glowing hearth
impassioned with red embers
warms my soul
when I touch your heart
My ghosts of the night
Your touch, only one,
Sends off all my fright
Your words rightly timed
The one Voice I heed
Your smile in the sun
The only Light I heed
REF: Though my passion slept deep
My trust warmed with years
Your gaze holds me tight
Until my eyes meet
You’ll call on and on
Until my voice speaks
Suns set and Moon shines
Your Spirit is wise
Before I drew breath
I found I can’t lie
She is only 1.25 meter in height (about 4 feet) high. Like a real mermaid, she is half human, half fish. With naked breasts and fish tail, she is in her true element when the waves hit her rock. Maybe she is dreaming about leaving the big sea to find her Prince and an immortal soul.

“Ode to her Sweet Prince by the Little Mermaid”
- to my husband for our Wedding Anniversary, April 2002
Once far away there was a maid born without a voice by the Zuider Zee
Not far from the North Sea where her prince played on the shores
As serendipity played her hand, they landed in the same place, fated to meet
Leagues away from their free native waves
There they joined in dance the way
They were always meant to be –
Free
Children playing in the huge, blue sprays
And through their shared joy it came to be
The little maid’s voice filled with lyrical melody
And when the Prince heard her sing sweet love to him
Truly his heart leaped with the life
He once knew long ago…so
As he heard the sea waves come
alive
In the music she played
He knew soothing calm
And at last came to rest
His head at her breast
Her voice in his breath
The Danish poet begins the tale of the youngest daughter of the Sea
King with the following words:
steeples would have to be piled up one above the other to reach from the
bottom of the sea to the surface. Right down there, live the sea people.
She falls in love with a Prince
At the age of 15, the little Mermaid for the first time swims to the surface
of the sea, where she fell in love with the Prince she saved from
drowning. She lost her fish tail, when she sold her voice to the evil sea
witch instead of the "most beautiful legs any girl could ever have".
